Surgical Technologist PositionThis role supports the perioperative team in delivering safe, high-quality care to surgical patients before, during, and after operative procedures. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for maintaining a sterile field, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and available, and assisting the surgical team throughout procedures. This position requires strong knowledge of surgical techniques, aseptic principles, infection control, and medical ethics.The Surgical Technologist also participates in training newly assigned personnel and maintains patient safety and confidentiality at all times.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist professional staff in providing care for the operative patient before, during, and after surgeryEnsure proper instrumentation and supplies are available on the sterile field and in the operating roomPerform scrub and circulating duties in the operating roomGather, check, and open all required supplies and equipment for surgical proceduresSet up sterile back table and Mayo stand with instruments, supplies, and equipmentPerform initial instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with circulating staffAssist with gowning, gloving, and patient drapingAnticipate and prepare additional instruments, equipment, and supplies during proceduresPass instruments and supplies to the surgeon as neededMaintain strict sterile technique throughout proceduresPrepare and appropriately handle and pass off surgical specimensClean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilizationOperate clinical equipment safely and appropriatelyCommunicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and familiesMaintain current clinical knowledge across all patient age groupsFollow all hospital policies and procedures, including attendance and dress codeRequired QualificationsGraduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist programAbility to perform duties proficiently in a specialty surgical environmentStrong communication skills (oral and written English)Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift/push/pull up to 25 lbsStrong organizational skills, clinical reasoning, and independent judgmentUnderstanding of aseptic technique, infection control, and patient safety principlesAbility to work effectively with clinical equipment and hospital systemsPreferred Qualifications3+ years of continuous operating room experienceCurrent Surgical Technologist certificationCurrent BLS certificationPhysical RequirementsFull range of body motion, including manual dexterity and eye-hand coordinationProlonged standing and walking during surgical proceduresAbility to lift, move, and reposition patients as neededAbility to transport and handle equipment and supplies up to 25+ lbsSkills & CompetenciesSurgical Scrubbing & Operating Room ProceduresSterile Technique & Asepsis PrinciplesInfection Control PracticesPatient Care & SafetyCommunication & TeamworkBasic Computer ProficiencyCritical Thinking and Clinical ReasoningBasic Life Support (BLS)Contact InformationTo apply or learn more about this opportunity, please reach out:Chelsey Haibeck View email address on click.appcast.io 605.501.4307All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
