Opened in March 2011, the Cowichan Maternity Clinic (CMC) is a Primary Care OB clinic located in the Cowichan District Hospital adjacent to the OB ward. Come and join a collegial and high functioning multidisciplinary team of eight highly skilled FPs and one Midwife/Lactation Consultant providing OB care to women in the Cowichan Region. Our staff includes an RN and two part time MOAs. Our practice is well supported by local OB/Gyn, Pediatricians and Anesthetists. We provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care to women up to six weeks postpartum. Caseload is approximately 250 deliveries per year shared by the group. Approximately 10% of the local population is Indigenous and about 30% of our maternity patients are Indigenous. As such, our community would likely appeal to a physician who is interested in Indigenous health Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education is an important part of our practice – with four x third year Integrated Clerkship (ICC) students per year as well as Indigenous Family Medicine residents and a new Family Medicine Residency program coming in 2024. Current NRP and Fetal Health Surveillance certification are required for this position. ALARM course or equivalent is recommended. We have a shared on-call and clinic model, and have recently added midwife/lactation consultant to our multidisciplinary team with the capability to do home visits in the first week post partum.Our midwife/LC colleague also works in clinic and will be joining our on-call roster in the summer of 2024. Work in the CMC is easily combined with other FP work in the community: Longitudinal Family Medicine practice and locums, Indigenous Health, Hospital Inpatient coverage, etc.Details available upon request. May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA): Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE) Relocation: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from) Flat fee: $6,373.80 Fee Premium: 4.20% CME: $2,200/annum year 3-4 and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community The above amounts are current as of August 2024 and may be subject to change. Clinic shifts: 9:30 am-12:30 pm, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm. On call shifts: 5pm to 5 pm Remuneration Fee for service: LFP (Longitudinal Family Practice) Maternity Clinic Billings, LFP Maternity Facility billings to start when available (June/July 2024), midwifery billing codes as appropriate.
