The Berrien County School System is currently advertising for the following vacancy for the 2026-2027 academic school year:

Speech & Language Pathology (SLP) Teacher - This is a full-time position. To be qualified for this position the candidate must possess active Georgia licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist. Anticipated start date August 3, 2026

Job Goal: The Speech Language Pathologist provides direct speech and language services to students who qualify for special education services. Responsibilities also include completion of speech and language evaluations, participation in the RTI/MTSS speech and language intervention process, participation in special education eligibility and IEP meetings, managing a caseload of students, IEP development, and Medicaid billing.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. Minimum of Masters degree in Communication Disorders or Speech Language Pathology or related field with valid Georgia licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist.
2. Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers
3. Physical demands - position requires significant standing and some sitting, kneeling and walking. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling will not normally exceed thirty (30) pounds, and will normally be in the area of ten (10) pounds. Must be able to move about the classroom and monitor student behavior.

Job Duties:

1. Exhibits a high knowledge of speech and language service techniques for students with a variety of communication-related difficulties
2. Communicates and performs duties in a manner compliant with IDEA, Georgia state rules, Berrien County Schools local procedures, and the Georgia State Code of Ethics
3. Exhibits effective communication skills with other service providers (i.e., teachers, other therapists, administrators, and other school and district staff)
4. Proficient using word processing, spreadsheets, and forms applications
5. Exhibits consistent and effective strategies to communicate as an itinerant staff member
6. Works with accuracy and timeliness in requested tasks and work completion
7. Exhibits effective record-keeping/data collection skills
8. Attends district and school meetings when scheduled
9. Maintains in-field licensure/certification
10. Work in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
11. Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student progress and behavior.
12. Support and/or participate in school-wide student activities, social events, and fundraisers.
13. Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and staff development opportunities
14. Familiar with PaddyNet and medicaid billing
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Position works 190 days.

Evaluation: Performance is evaluated in accordance with the personnel policy on certified evaluations.
