Network Planning Engineer (Telecom Circuit Design)
Resources will be required to work on client's site in Melbourne, FL. Non-local candidates will be compensated accordingly for long-term assignment in Melbourne. A Network Planning Engineer's (Telco Engineer) role will be a crucial part in evaluating, planning, and implementing a cutting-edge telecommunications network design tailored to mission-critical needs. You will be at the forefront of replacing legacy copper-based systems with advanced technologies, creating scalable and optimized telco architectures, and documenting solutions that support engineering and NOC operations. Collaborate with internal and external teams, work independently on high-impact projects, and lead proof-of-concept efforts for emerging services.
- Assess telecommunications technologies and design solutions to ensure alignment with the network's critical infrastructure and service requirements.
- Architect and engineer next-generation telco services to replace legacy copper-based solutions with modern, scalable alternatives.
- Deliver tailored network implementations that meet dynamic customer requirements and long-term strategic objectives.
- Establish and apply best practices in network design, capacity planning, and service continuity to support mission-critical operations.
- Oversee the telco design release lifecycle to ensure timely execution and alignment with program milestones.
Responsibilities include evaluating telco designs in relation to the critical infrastructure and service needs for the FTI network, planning and designing modern telco services to replace legacy copper-based telco solutions, implementing solutions that support customer requirements, participating in after action reviews to resolve technical challenges, creating and maintaining documentation for engineering and NOC teams, identifying areas of opportunity for automation and network optimization, and managing the Telco design release workflow to meet the implementation schedule.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent of a 4-year accredited degree in a technical discipline, degree and minimum 4 years of prior WAN Telecommunications networks experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior WAN Telecommunications networks experience, highly motivated and capable of developing and following detailed instructions and action plans, ability to work in a team environment and is self-directed and self-motivated, project management skills capable of adhering to deadlines and completing tasks per project schedule, strong skill set with Microsoft Office software applications, knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings and technical procedures, domain knowledge of the Telecommunications industry, including carrier services, provisioning terminology, CISCO routers and network infrastructure and IP technologies such as Pseudo Wire and Ethernet switching, and ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance security clearance.
