Associate Systems Engineer

Associate Systems Engineers support the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of business systems and IT infrastructure. They work closely with senior engineers, analysts, and cross-functional teams to monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, support testing and deployments, document processes, and help ensure systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with business needs. Scoular builds software through an AI-assisted SDLC, so this role develops fluency with Claude Code from the start, working within the defined session lifecycle (kick-off, develop, code-review, build-check, wrap-up), on Scoular's Angular and .NET stack, with all code in GitHub Enterprise. Because AI removes much of the effort of producing code, the skills that matter most early are the ones that make output trustworthy: Git and source control fundamentals, testing, reading and debugging code you did not write by hand, and knowing when to ask. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience with systems engineering, automation, integrations, and technology solutions while building a strong technical foundation for career growth. Partnership: Collaborate efficiently and effectively with team members, business partners, and third-party vendors to define and deliver contemporary solutions that solve business problems, participating in design discussions to build understanding of how business needs translate into technical work. Business Process: Support business process enhancements and technical changes that deliver new value-added capabilities and systems solutions, identifying manual or repetitive work that may be a candidate for automation. Analysis and Design: Collaborate with stakeholders and senior engineers to analyze problems, document requirements, and contribute to functional and technical designs. Help keep business context current inside the repository so AI tooling and future maintainers inherit it. AI-Assisted Development and Delivery: Develop, test, and document solutions using Claude Code within the defined session lifecycle, on Scoular's standard stack (Angular frontend, .NET/C# backend). Submit work through pull requests for required review, use only approved packages, build from the established scaffolding baseline rather than starting fresh, and resolve security scan findings before promotion. Read, test, and understand AI-generated code before submitting it; do not promote output you cannot explain. Support unit, scenario, integration, and end-to-end testing, and participate in L2/L3 support post-delivery. Change Management: Follow defined change management processes, helping identify risks, documenting changes, supporting scheduling and communication, and assisting with implementation and post-change validation through the DEV/QA/PROD path with pipeline-based deployment. Learning and Technical Foundations: Build core engineering proficiency deliberately, including Git and GitHub fundamentals (branch hygiene, pull requests, resolving merge conflicts), Scoular's development standards, testing practice, and effective AI use including context management and prompt quality. Participate in enablement and paired mentoring, use the Skills Catalog and shared prompt library, and share learning openly, including mistakes. Enterprise Architecture and Responsible AI: Support solutions that align with Scoular's technical architecture, key platforms, integration strategy, and SOPs to minimize environment complexity, support costs, and technical debt, including read-only ODS consumption with write-backs through APIM only. Follow AI-specific Acceptable Use and ISO controls, and never place sensitive or unmasked production data into non-production environments. Escalate rather than improvise when a situation is not covered by a documented standard. Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree 0-2 years of experience preferred Willingness and aptitude to develop within an AI-assisted SDLC, using AI coding tools as a normal part of daily work Understanding that AI-generated code must be read, tested, and understood before submission; accountability stays with the engineer, not the tool Willingness to learn and follow established standards, branch and review practices, and escalation paths Working knowledge of IT-related laws and compliance mandates (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley 404, PCI DSS, HIPAA/HITECH, Personal Information Privacy) is desired Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation Excellent analytical and technical skills Strong written communication and presentation skills Professional planning and organizational skills Ability to present informative, well-organized documentation and artifacts Interest in current technology trends, development best practices, and responsible use of AI #J-18808-Ljbffr
