Power Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with a leading utility and energy organization, is seeking a Power Engineer to join their Telecommunications Engineering team in Raleigh, NC. This engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, testing, and documenting complex AC and DC power solutions supporting telecom and critical infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in AC/DC power engineering, UPS systems, DC plant infrastructure, grounding systems, and telecom facility power design. This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role responsible for ensuring reliable and cost-effective telecom power systems that support enterprise communication networks. This position requires strong independent execution, collaboration across engineering and operations teams, and the ability to support both design and field implementation activities. This role is hybrid and requires onsite presence in downtown Raleigh three days per week. What the right candidate will enjoy: Designing and delivering critical AC/DC telecom power infrastructure supporting enterprise communication systems Working with UPS systems, DC plant systems, and battery backup infrastructure in mission-critical environments Serving as a technical lead across telecom power engineering projects with real operational impact What type of experience does the right candidate have: 6+ years of electrical engineering, telecom power engineering, or critical infrastructure power systems experience Strong hands‑on experience with AC power systems (120/240V) and DC power systems (48V and 130V) Deep understanding of UPS systems, DC plant systems, rectifiers, and battery monitoring systems Experience with telecom grounding standards for shelters, towers, and communication infrastructure Familiarity with backup generators and integrated power redundancy systems Basic understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and telecom network environments Experience with network automation, scripting, or programming (Python, Bash, or similar) highly preferred Experience working in utility, telecom, or critical infrastructure environments Strong documentation skills including engineering drawings, schematics, and technical design packages Familiarity with Agile engineering practices and cross‑functional technical teams Strong communication, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills What the responsibilities are of the right candidate: Design, implement, and support AC/DC telecom power systems including UPS, DC plants, and backup power infrastructure Develop engineering job packages (EJPs), including equipment lists, installation instructions, drawings, and network diagrams Perform system design work ensuring cost‑effective, reliable, and scalable telecom power solutions Prepare cost estimates, technical studies, and work orders for planned infrastructure deployments Provide technical support to field operations, NOC teams, installation crews, and maintenance personnel Support troubleshooting and advanced problem resolution for telecom power systems Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project teams to deliver infrastructure upgrades and implementations Maintain awareness of current telecom power technologies and industry best practices Support documentation, standards compliance, and system optimization initiatives Contribute to process improvements for operational efficiency and support scalability of telecom power systems #J-18808-Ljbffr
