Account Manager – HVAC

Location: Seattle, WA

Working arrangement: On-site, full-time

Salary: $220,000 total compensation

FLSA status: Exempt

Our client is an established HVAC company providing commercial equipment solutions and technical support to customers.

About the Role

The Account Manager supports customers throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-sale enquiries through to post-sale delivery. Working closely with internal teams, you will manage customer relationships, provide technical assistance and coordinate projects ranging from several weeks to several months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with estimating, project management, sales support, inside sales and accounting to support all project stages.
  • Provide customer service and technical assistance.
  • Communicate with customers by phone, email and in person in a high-volume environment.
  • Conduct weekly customer visits to build relationships, follow up on quotations and support new project opportunities.
  • Deliver technical presentations and participate in marketing events.
  • Manage accounts of varying sizes, including responding to house account enquiries.
  • Travel for customer factory visits, industry events and manufacturer training.
  • Work with internal engineering teams and customers to promote products for basis-of-design selection.
  • Conduct pre-bid research, identify repeat bids or existing opportunities, and record projects in the appropriate system.
  • Understand market pricing, gather customer bid feedback and maintain accurate CRM records.
  • Provide budget pricing based on project narratives and design development information.
  • Finalise estimates through pre-bid reviews.
  • Independently complete accurate product takeoffs.
  • Prepare submittals and orders using manufacturer databases and internal software.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work with Project Managers to track open orders and provide updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform customer credit reviews and gather information required for materialman filings.
  • Undertake additional reasonable duties consistent with the scope and level of the role.

Required Experience and Skills

  • At least three years of HVAC account management experience.
  • At least three years of sales experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a high-volume business.
  • Strong technical and database skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Oracle, CRM systems and manufacturer databases.
  • Advanced HVAC product knowledge, including product functionality, cross-referencing and suitable substitutions.
  • Understanding of industry terminology and differences between products and manufacturers.
  • Ability to identify product exclusions within bid documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline; relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, vendor software and relevant business software.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The role involves office, warehouse and occasional site-based activities.

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, elevated areas, fumes or airborne particles.
  • Moderate noise levels in the office and louder conditions in the warehouse.
  • Occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
  • Occasional lifting of more than 50 lbs.
  • Most working time involves sitting, using hands, speaking and listening.
