Senior Tax Manager

Location: Tempe, AZ | Schedule: Full-time, on-site | Compensation: $140,000-$175,000 base salary

Overview

A growing CPA firm in the East Valley is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join its leadership team. This role works closely with Tax Partners and Senior Managers, offering a clear path toward Partner-level growth for the right candidate.

What you'll do

• Supervise and mentor a small team of tax professionals
• Review and sign federal and multi-state tax returns for C Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts, Individuals, and Tax-Exempt Organizations
• Manage multiple client priorities and deadlines
• Build and maintain trusted client relationships through proactive service
• Research and resolve complex technical tax issues
• Communicate directly with clients on tax matters
• Stay current with evolving tax law and industry changes

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required
• CPA designation required
• 10+ years of tax experience in public accounting
• At least 3 years in a supervisory role
• Direct responsibility for reviewing and signing federal and multi-state tax returns
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing others
• High level of technical tax knowledge with ability to research and resolve complex issues
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with tax law and industry changes
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to adapt to new technologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including direct client communications
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in Tax a plus
• Experience with CCH Axcess and ProSystems Engagement preferred

Compensation and benefits

• Base salary of $140,000-$175,000
