As a Principal Software Architect at BambooHR you will work with an exceptional team of talented individuals who live and breathe our Bamboo Values. You will help define BambooHR's technical strategy for intelligent product experiences. You will architect and guide the delivery of AI-powered capabilities that are secure, reliable, observable, and maintainable at scale, balancing modern AI capabilities with sound software engineering principles. Although writing code is part of this role, it goes beyond just that. You will have many additional responsibilities, listed below.You will:Build reliable AI systems in production, including prompt/version management, evaluation and regression testing, monitoring for drift/quality, and cost performance optimizationEstablish responsible AI practices for the team (privacy, data handling, model risk, human-in-the-loop workflows), and contribute to patterns/standards that scale across servicesDefining architectural changes that can be implemented incrementally, while minimizing riskDefining advancements in architecture that roll the software in the right directionCollaborate with a variety of stakeholders to determine architectural prioritiesBuilding, fixing, and improving code, especially high-value codeTraining team members on basic practices, new techniques, and past mistakesHelping the team to be able to build code with confidenceWhat You Need to Get the Job DoneBachelor’s in technology-related field or equivalent certification in developmentAt least 10 years of engineering experience with at least 7 of those years having been in software architectureExperience developing SaaS software utilizing various coding languages including React, PHP, MySQL, etc. and the ability to pick up new languages quicklyExperience with the full lifecycle of software development including the use of version control tools, build management, unit testing systems and API (paradigms)Experience deploying solutions and provisioning environments with best-practice solutionsExperience with CI/CD and deployment systemsExceptional communication and collaboration skillsAbility to tactfully and effectively give and receive concrete feedbackKnowledgeable in security best practices, including OWASP Top 10Familiarity with static analysis and code scanningExperience delivering AI-backed features end-to-end in a production environment, including integration with LLM APIs or ML Services, and a track record of iterating based on evaluation data and user impact.Ability to lead technically in ambiguous problem spaces - making sound tradeoffs, mentoring others on AI patterns, and raising the bar on code quality and operational excellenceWhat You'll Love About UsA Great Company Culture that has been recognized by multiple organizations like Inc, and Salt Lake TribuneComprehensive health, life, and disability insurance Generous leave policies that include 4 weeks of vacation, 12 company holidays, parental leave, and volunteer time off so you can enjoy quality of life401k plans with up to 6% company match$2000 Paid-Paid Vacation bonusEAP through HeadspaceCheck out all our benefits that benefit you About UsAt BambooHR, we're building something different: we're building a people intelligence platform that transforms HR and sets people free to do great work!
