Position Overview

Our organization is on the lookout for a Division Director for the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology sector within the Department of Pediatrics. The ideal candidate will be a physician-scientist with a proven track record in research, particularly in patient-focused, translational, or fundamental science studies. This role requires exceptional mentoring, clinical, and teaching abilities, along with sufficient administrative experience to effectively lead the division. The selected Division Director will benefit from substantial development funds and will be offered an endowed chair position.

About the Division

The Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Division is recognized as the largest and most comprehensive center for childhood cancer and blood disorders in the regions of Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northern West Virginia. Currently, the division comprises 21 faculty members and 10 Advanced Practice Providers dedicated to delivering compassionate, cutting-edge care to children facing cancer and hematologic conditions. Our team engages in a wide array of research interests, from fundamental studies aimed at understanding cancer mechanisms to impactful translational research and NIH-funded clinical trials. Additionally, we host an exceptional fellowship program designed to cultivate future leaders in pediatric hematology and oncology.

Department Overview

The Department of Pediatrics consists of 20 divisions, six centers, and two institutes, boasting over 350 faculty members. Annually, the department secures approximately $60 million in research funding from the NIH and various federal and non-federal sources.

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, recognized in the Top 10 Honor Roll of U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Children's Hospitals," is a 317-bed, standalone facility situated in the vibrant Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The hospital serves over 80% of all hospitalized children in our area, including more than 90% of those under 12 years old, covering a broad catchment area that includes Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia, and Southwestern New York.
