Clinical Support Specialist
Fundamentals LLC
Job Description
Job Description
Description
At Fundamentals, we believe every young person deserves to feel understood, supported, and given the opportunity to grow.
As a Mental Health Team Member, you’ll work directly with youth, providing mental health support, psychoeducation, social-emotional learning, assessments, and individualized support. You’ll help youth build coping skills, better understand their emotions, navigate challenges, and develop skills they can use in everyday life.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll build relationships with youth while working closely with support staff.
What Makes This Work Different?
Our youth may have a variety of emotional, behavioral, mental health, and developmental needs, and many have experienced challenges that can make traditional environments difficult.
Clinical Support Specialists are part of the team supporting youth throughout their day, not just during scheduled clinical sessions. You may facilitate a social-emotional group, complete a wellness check, support a youth through a difficult moment, consult with direct support staff, or help a young person identify a healthier way to cope.
Schedule & Program Structure
During the school year, the Community Integration program operates Monday–Friday, with Clinical Support Specialist hours typically 11:00 AM–7:00 PM.
During the summer, the program transitions to a full-day schedule, with hours typically 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate social-emotional learning (SEL) sessions for youth ages 7–18 focused on emotional awareness, coping skills, communication, and personal development.
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups addressing age-appropriate mental health, coping strategies, social skills, and wellness.
- Conduct individual wellness checks and provide appropriate follow-up support based on each youth’s needs.
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments for youth and families as appropriate to the role.
- Provide individualized mental health and social-emotional support to youth between individual and group services.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Support youth in developing emotional regulation, coping, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Document client interactions, assessments, support plans, progress, and other required information accurately and timely.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow applicable ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Case Coordinators, direct support staff, educators, families, and internal and external mental health professionals to coordinate services and support.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and other collaborative discussions regarding youth progress and service needs.
- Provide consultation, training, and resources to support staff regarding evidence-based mental health and behavioral practices.
- Advocate for youth and families and assist with referrals to additional services and community resources when appropriate.
- Participate in debriefing following significant behavioral or safety incidents and help identify prevention and support strategies.
- Help develop and implement strategies that promote safety, emotional regulation, and positive outcomes for youth.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
