RN School Nurse (Long-Term Substitute)

RN School Nurse (Long-Term Substitute) Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has an opportunity for a long-term substitute School Nurse to join a dynamic team of nurses supporting students at Essex High School and Center for Technology, beginning August 19, 2026 through the end of October 2026. The school nurse collaborates with teachers and administrators to integrate health and wellness knowledge and skills across the school, drawing on their experience in pediatric, community health, emergency, adult, and mental health nursing. This position pays $450/day, which equates to $60.00/hour based on a 7.5 hour day. EWSD is committed to considering folks with a Vermont RN license who do not yet hold the VT Educator license with a school nurse endorsement. Additional Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant nursing experience. Hold a valid license as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Vermont. Hold a valid Vermont Educator’s License with a 3-65 school nurse endorsement, or ability to obtain. We are willing to request a provisional license for those who meet the other criteria listed and are willing to complete the provisional license application requirements and steps to receive the license within two years. Experience with supporting students across broad aspects of the school's system of support. Experience working with high school students preferred. Knowledge of general nursing and school nursing concepts and skills. Effectively works with others, including those with opinions or beliefs different from their own. This position may be split between two nurses who work a regular schedule (e.g., one works M/W/F and the other Tu/Th). This may prevent the need to obtain a VT Educator license with a School Nurse endorsement to cover this assignment. Job Requirements Bachelor degree preferred.
