CDOC TEMPORARY AIDE - Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) / Medication Administraction (QMAP) - (DENVER)

Temporary Position in Denver, CO

This temporary position is located in Denver, CO at the Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center. The position is responsible for, but not limited to, assisting patients with activities of daily living, obtaining and recording vital signs, providing and assisting with patient transfers, reporting changes in patient skin condition and health care complaints, emptying catheter bags, talking with patients to keep oriented, responding to call lights and inmate requests for assistance, assisting with meal distribution, changing linen, assisting patient with making of bed, performing dressing changes, maintaining appropriate tool and materials control and accountability, participating in development of patient plan of care, providing clerical assistance, retrieving and entering kites in computerized kite log, scheduling inmates for sick line and chronic care visits, assisting with delivery of medications, receiving, verifying, storing and preparing return pharmaceuticals, and assisting in maintaining inventory and stocking of supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

Only applicants who meet the minimum and special qualifications will be included in the comparative analysis process. Minimum qualifications include one year of full-time experience as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and a valid, active Nurse Aide Certification (CNA) from the State of Colorado. Special qualifications include a valid, active Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) Certification from one of the Approved Training Entities as identified by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE). Current, valid licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies or any state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact will substitute for the experience requirement.

Required competencies include self-control, ability to work in stressful, potentially violent situations, ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient under pressure and observant throughout their shift, tolerance to stress, confinement, and high-stakes interaction, ability to work with inmates of diverse backgrounds and functional levels, excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate positively and professionally with inmates and staff, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to read and comprehend the English language, ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind, strong understanding and knowledge of the complexities of a multi-disciplinary health care delivery system, ability to problem solve critically to effectively resolve issues, ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality inmate care, ability to operate independently within the scope of a CNA, must be of high integrity to handle confidential health care information to include all inmate records, and basic knowledge of computer systems.

Preferred qualifications include experience working as a CNA in a correctional environment, current CPR Certification, current First Aid Certification, experience working with patients who have multiple disabilities to include both physical and mental, experience working with the senior population, and hospice experience.
