Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Director of Projects to lead estimating, project execution, and operational management for industrial coatings projects.

Position Summary

The Director of Projects will oversee the estimating, planning, execution, and financial performance of industrial coatings projects involving fuel tanks, water towers, bridges, industrial piping, marine structures, and other heavy industrial assets. This position is responsible for managing client relationships, supervising project teams, supporting business development efforts, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial coatings, corrosion control, marine coatings, or ship repair, along with experience supporting federal or government-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Prepare estimates and respond to Requests for Proposal (RFPs), bid invitations, and other project opportunities.
• Partner with business development leadership to track bid activity, project opportunities, and competitive intelligence.
• Forecast project revenue, manpower requirements, and resource allocation.
• Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution from award through closeout.
• Manage project financial performance, including change orders, forecasting, billing, and cost-to-complete reporting.
• Coordinate closely with operations, quality, safety, purchasing, and field leadership to ensure successful project delivery.
• Provide leadership and direction to project managers, field supervisors, painters, blasters, and support staff.
• Oversee project logistics, mobilization, and demobilization activities.
• Deliver regular project updates to executive leadership and clients.
• Support long-term strategic growth initiatives for the industrial coatings division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Building Sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• 5–10+ years of experience in industrial coatings, protective coatings, marine coatings, corrosion control, or ship repair.
• Demonstrated experience estimating and managing industrial coatings projects.
• Strong understanding of industrial coating systems, application methods, and industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
• PMP, PMDP, or other project management certifications are considered a plus.

• Ability to obtain access to military installations and secure project sites through a successful background screening.
