This department is the main defense against serious infections that may linger on surfaces throughout the facility.Job Summary:The Environmental Services Floor Care Specialist follows established procedures to clean, service building areas and performs a variety of environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, orderly and sanitized condition.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Cleans all areas assigned.Responsible for all floor care throughout the hospital.Knowledge of specifications to clean patient rooms, surgery, OB, floor care, outside windows.Thoroughly cleans areas using proper cleaning materials, supplies and solutions.Always observes established isolation and aseptic techniques in accordance with departmental policy and procedure.Demonstrates a knowledge of infection control and strictly obeys the hospital policies for infection control procedures by washing hands regularly.Seeks out work that needs to be done, demonstrates alertness to areas needing attention.Consistently demonstrates an awareness and concern for patient safety, always uses caution signs as appropriate.Displays courtesy at all times with patients, visitors and co-workers.Demonstrates skills and consideration in completing assigned duties without interference to those responsible for direct patient care.Meets deadlines in daily responsibilities and special projects; demonstrates ability to recognize, establish and deal with priorities.Replenishes supplies as required, such as paper products, etc.Maintains appropriate cleaning supply inventory for assigned areas.Performs additional duties as assigned within scope of responsibility.Primary Responsibilities (Floor Care Emphasis):Perform routine and deep cleaning of hard surface floors, carpets, and other flooring typesOperate floor care equipment including scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and extractorsStrip, wax, buff, and refinish floors according to facility schedule and standardsMaintain equipment through routine cleaning and reporting of repair needsSupport overall EVS duties as assigned, including patient room turnover and common area cleaningPreferred Skills & Abilities:Experience operating and maintaining commercial floor care equipment safely and effectivelyKnowledge of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and proper dilution proceduresAbility to follow infection control and safety protocols in a healthcare environmentStrong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a teamAbility to prioritize tasks and maintain assigned areas to established cleanliness standardsQualifications:High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) requiredMinimum of one (1) year of experience in floor care and maintenance using various types of floor equipment (e.g., buffers, auto-scrubbers, burnishers, carpet extractors)Prior housekeeping or environmental services experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferredMission & Vision & Values:Improve the health and wellness of the community by delivering compassionate, quality care.Be a trusted, nationally-recognized leader of innovative, collaborative, community health.A.S.P.I.R.E - Always serve with professionalism, integrity, respect, and excellence.EOE (Equal Opportunity Employer) Wilson Health
