Advanced Signal Processing and Estimation

The Advanced Undersea Systems and Technology Group develops innovative technology for U.S. undersea and counter-undersea systems. Our focus areas include acoustic and non-acoustic sensing, advanced signal processing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, autonomous systems, and systems analysis. Our technology is hosted on manned and unmanned undersea, surface, and air vehicles as well as fixed sensors. Our technical staff members hold advanced degrees in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, ocean engineering, and computer science. The group engages in all phases of technology development from performance assessment to prototyping and testing for a variety of Department of Defense users, sponsors, and industry. In addition, our group provides our collaboration partners with undersea domain and technology expertise to inform and motivate concept development in areas such as energy systems, communications, and sensing. As part of our team, you will have an opportunity to work on a variety of exciting tasks, including:Engaging in the full application-development cycle, ranging from initial white-board brainstorming and concept development to the transitioning of mature capabilitiesParticipating in at-sea sensor test and validation activitiesDeveloping theoretical models of physical phenomena, creating laboratory-grade simulations, and refining accuracy with real-world experimental resultsWe are looking for creative people with a desire for continuous learning to work in an inclusive environment consisting of small teams of hardworking engineers with a common goal of solving difficult problems critical for scientific and national defense applications.Requirements:PhD in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, physics, computer science or related technical field.
