This group includes professionals passionate about air quality and environmental compliance, supporting clients in addressing complex regulatory and technical challenges. The team provides services across a range of areas, including air permitting, emissions estimation, regulatory compliance, control technology assessments, air dispersion modeling, and preparation of air quality and compliance reports.Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:Serving as the technical lead, overseeing consultant-level staff on complex air quality projectsCritically reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal environmental regulations, with a focus on air complianceMaintaining client relationships and managing deliverables to meet client needs efficiently and to the highest qualityPreparing air quality permit applications and environmental reports across a range of complexity levels and for a range of industry typesEstimating emissions and conducting engineering evaluations of air pollution sourcesYour new team As part of the team, you will join an exceptional air and climate group focused on solving complex client challenges and developing sustainable solutions. For this role, your starting point is:B.S. or M.S. in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related physical science with strong quantitative coursework. PE certification a plus9+ years of air quality consulting experience, including air permitting, compliance, and/or air dispersion modelingDemonstrated project management experience, including proposal development, managing scope, schedule, budgets, and multidisciplinary project teamsExperience with client relationship management, and business development effortsStrong understanding of air pollution control technologies and air dispersion modeling tools (e.g., AERMOD)Experience interpreting and applying federal and state air regulations, including Clean Air Act programs (e.g., NSR/PSD, Title V, NSPS and NESHAP); multi-state experience desirableDemonstrated experience preparing air permit applications, including NSR/PSD and Title V, encompassing emissions calculations, regulatory applicability analysis, application preparation, and agency coordination through permit issuanceProven ability to communicate technical information effectively to clients, regulators, and stakeholders, including presentations and regulatory interactionsAdvanced proficiency in Excel; experience with programming (e.g., Python, R), databasesDemonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff in technical and consulting skillsWhat we can offer youOpportunities to lead complex, high-impact air quality projects across the U.S., including permitting, modeling, and regulatory strategy for industrial and energy clientsExposure to complex, multi-state regulatory environments across diverse industries, providing broad technical and regulatory experienceExposure to innovative tools and approaches, including generative AI, to enhance air quality modeling, permitting workflows, and data analysisDirect exposure to clients and regulators, with meaningful responsibility in technical decision-making and project deliveryClear growth path, with opportunities to advance into technical leadership, project management, or client-facing rolesHands-on development in advanced regulatory strategy, emissions analysis, and air quality tools, including dispersion modelingCollaborative team environment with experienced practitioners who actively mentor and support your developmentFlexible work arrangements to support productivity and work-life balanceCompetitive compensation and benefits, including generous Paid Time Off and strong health and retirement plansThe stability and long-term perspective of a foundation-owned companySalary Transparency Statement At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $115,500 - $150,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
