Roadway Construction Inspector III

AECOM is seeking an experienced Roadway Construction Inspector III to be based in Phoenix Arizona. This position will serve as a construction inspector on roadway and transportation infrastructure projects under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and documenting daily construction activities verifying compliance with project plans and specifications and coordinating with contractors and project personnel. This role requires the ability to work independently exercise sound judgment and support the successful delivery of roadway construction projects throughout the Phoenix area.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Tracks and inspects daily contractor activities measures completed work items and maintains accurate records for progress payments.
• Prepares daily project documentation including inspection reports diaries and construction records.
• Identifies materials workmanship and construction procedures that do not comply with approved project plans specifications or applicable standards.
• Submits detailed daily inspection logs documenting construction activities labor equipment quantities and project progress.
• Inspects traffic control measures and worksite conditions for compliance with approved plans specifications and safety requirements.
• Coordinates directly with contractors the Resident Engineer and project personnel to inspect and document construction operations.
• Performs or coordinates field testing of concrete soils and aggregates to verify compliance with project requirements.
• Conducts sampling of construction materials including concrete asphalt aggregates and reinforcing steel.
• Reviews construction activities and identifies potential quality issues discrepancies or field conditions requiring corrective action.
• Assists with tracking construction progress resolving field issues and maintaining project inspection records.
• Participates in field meetings construction inspections and project closeout activities as needed.
• Provides guidance and technical support to less experienced inspection personnel when assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma plus 4 years of relevant construction inspection experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• A valid drivers license is required along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 years of experience performing construction inspection on roadway highway or transportation infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience working on Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) projects or similar state and municipal transportation projects.
• Certifications: ACI and ATTI preferred; ATSSA Traffic Control Technician certification is a plus.
• Working knowledge of roadway construction methods materials inspection procedures and applicable specifications.
• Experience performing construction material sampling field testing quantity measurements and daily inspection documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans specifications and technical drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment in the field.
• Strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with contractors engineers and project personnel.
• Ability to provide guidance to junior inspectors as needed.
• Some travel may be required.
• Night and weekend work may be required depending on project schedules.
