Job Description Visa Accepted J1 Visa Location H-1B Cap-Exempt Hospital Details 124-bed facility Named for local businessman Sid Peterson, this private hospital was named one of the “Top 20” Rural Community Hospitals in the nation—the only hospital in Texas on the list Serves a primary service area of 45,000 people Hospitalists admit 85% of patients from the Emergency Department Stroke patients who receive fibrinolytic or who meet criteria for arterial thrombectomy are transferred to San Antonio after consultation with a Tele-Neurologist Specialty backup includes 24/7 cardiology (including cath lab and most cardiologists do PE thrombectomies), general surgery, ortho, and OB/GYN Interventional radiology availabe during the week Vascular surgery coverage averaging 20-25 days per month Urology coverage 50% of the time Emergency Department ED Volume: 34,000 Trauma Designation: Level IV ED Beds: 20 ED Admission Rate: 21% ED Transfer Rate: 4% Staffing Model: 10-hour shifts 3 Physician shifts per day (total 30 hours) 3 APP shifts per day (total 30 hours) Shifts will flex 1-2 hours up or down based on volumes EMR: Meditech BC (or BE) in Emergency Medicine (preferred) or BC in FP/IM with a minimum of five years of ED experience Stroke certified; however, still transfer patients who require lytics and/or arterial thrombectomy Primary Stroke Center certification expected by end of 2025 Community Medical professionals in Kerrville enjoy a lifestyle that blends all the best aspects of rural, suburban, and urban life.
