About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU/IMC Float Stepdown Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in PCU/IMC License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 2 years of PCU/IMC experience. Prefer prior neuro experience. Prefer Epic experience. Must have experience with cardiac drips, insulin, and ativan. Must be comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin. Description: Travelers are expected to float throughout the designated zone. The zone covers a 60-mile radius from the designated city center. Travelers are responsible for obtaining housing within this radius. All clinicians must be in-state for the orientation week. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3-4 depending on acuity. Common diagnoses include Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology-post surgicals, General Surgery-post appendectomy, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, and General Medicine. Nurses are assigned a designated Charge on each unit, who does not take a patient assignment unless necessary. Designated Charge nurses may end up with a small patient assignment on night shifts. There are nurse aids in these units. Respiratory therapy equipment is available, including vents, Cpap, and BiPap. Schedules are made by leadership for 6 weeks at a time. Travelers are expected to be flexible to fill gaps in permanent scheduling. Time-off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment. There are 6-9 weekend shifts required in a 6-week schedule. May be asked to participate in holiday rotations. All shifts are 12 hours. May be asked to float into various acuity levels, including ICU for low acuity holds, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele. Scrub color and dress code are not specified. Unit-specific orientation involves 1-2 days with a preceptor. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment. Charting is done using EPIC.
