About HTC Automotive Repair

HTC Automotive Repair is seeking an Outside Sales Representative / Automotive Service Advisor in Boulder, CO.

HTC is an established, independent, owner-operated automotive repair shop with more than five years in business. Led by owner Jake, the shop emphasizes quality automotive repairs, accurate documentation, realistic customer expectations, and long-term customer trust.

This unique hybrid position combines outside business-to-business (B2B) sales with evening automotive service advising. You'll spend the first part of your shift developing relationships with local businesses and fleet customers, then transition into HTC's front office to help deliver the service you've been selling.

We're looking for someone who knows how to turn a first conversation into a lasting business relationship. Someone who can walk into a business, identify the decision-maker, understand what's missing from their current automotive repair provider, and follow through until they've earned the opportunity to do business.

You don't need to be an experienced Automotive Service Advisor to succeed here. If you bring proven outside sales experience, strong relationship-building skills, and a willingness to learn the automotive service process, HTC will provide training on its service-advising procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop New Business & Fleet Accounts: Identify and visit local businesses with vehicles requiring maintenance and repair. Connect with fleet managers, business owners, and other decision-makers to understand their automotive service needs.
• Build Relationships That Last: Learn about prospective customers' current repair arrangements, identify service frustrations or unmet needs, and develop professional relationships through consistent, thoughtful follow-up.
• Present HTC's Automotive Repair Services: Explain HTC's repair and maintenance services and approved fleet terms, answer customer questions within your knowledge, and coordinate with the shop team when additional information is needed.
• Manage Sales Leads & Follow-Up: Maintain accurate prospect information in the customer relationship management (CRM) system, document conversations, track next steps, and help convert initial fleet service opportunities into ongoing business relationships.
• Support Evening Automotive Service Operations: Transition from outside sales to front-office service advising around 5:00 PM. Answer incoming calls, greet arriving customers, coordinate service appointments, and assist with vehicle handoffs through 9:00 PM.
• Communicate Repair Recommendations & Approvals: Help customers understand repair information, estimates, recommended services, and authorization requests while following HTC's established service process.
• Maintain Accurate Customer & Service Records: Keep customer information, sales follow-ups, repair orders, and service communications organized and properly documented.
• Collaborate With the Automotive Service Team: Work directly with HTC's service advisors, shop foreman, and owner to coordinate customer expectations, maintain realistic commitments, and provide consistent service from the initial sales conversation through the repair process.

Qualifications

• Required: Previous Outside Sales Experience. Demonstrated ability to prospect for new business, establish professional relationships, and earn customers through direct sales efforts. Be prepared to discuss examples of business you've successfully developed.
• Business Development & Relationship-Building Skills: Confidence approaching local businesses, identifying decision-makers, asking thoughtful questions, and maintaining productive conversations over time.
• Sales Follow-Up & Organization: Ability to manage multiple prospects, document interactions, track next steps, and consistently follow through on commitments.
• CRM & Software Skills: Comfortable using customer relationship management systems and learning automotive shop management software to organize customer information and service activity.
• Communication & Customer Service: Ability to explain information clearly, listen to customer concerns, and remain organized and helpful during busy service desk periods.
• Local Travel & Evening Availability: Willingness to visit businesses throughout the local market and work the scheduled 1:00 PM–9:00 PM shift, including evening service desk coverage.
• Preferred: Automotive Industry Experience. Previous Automotive Service Advisor experience, automotive repair knowledge, fleet account sales, or automotive service sales experience is a plus, but previous service-advising experience is not required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $60,000–$80,000 annual base salary, based on experience.
• Pay Structure: Base salary plus commission. Base pay covers the full scheduled shift, including outside sales and service desk responsibilities.
• Commission Opportunities: Commission is earned on qualifying work from accounts you bring to HTC during the account eligibility period defined in the written commission plan.
