Buyer II position at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Frederick, Maryland, responsible for procuring direct and indirect materials while managing supplier relationships, inventory levels, and cost optimization to support manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Procure direct and indirect materials while maintaining production schedules and inventory targets
- Create, monitor, and manage purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and order accuracy
- Build and maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance metrics, and mitigate supply disruptions
- Analyze inventory, demand forecasts, and MRP data to optimize purchasing decisions
- Support new product introductions, supplier negotiations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years procurement experience, or high school diploma with 4+ years manufacturing supply chain experience
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards
- Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency and general Office skills
- Knowledge of MRP planning, inventory management, and supplier relationship management
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication with cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in dynamic manufacturing environments
Compensation: $59,400–$79,200 base
