Licensed Practical Nurse - BMA Clinic. Full-Time Day Shift

Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN responsible for nursing care of patients under the supervision of the office manager or physician; assists clinic personnel/patients with clinic functions.

Major Job Functions

1. Participates in assessment of patient
2. Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
3. Follows patient's plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
4. Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
5. Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
6. Administers medication as ordered by physician
7. Facilitates a safe environment
8. Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
9. Maintains required competencies
10. Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
11. Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
12. Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
13. Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
14. Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable
15. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training:

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure

• None

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
• Verbal and written skills required
• Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served

Physical Requirements:

• Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
• Visual acuity for observation of patients
• Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds
