Scientific Programmer

We are looking for a remote Scientific Programmer. Key Duties Work with NOAA government staff to coordinate science products, algorithm integration, and science processing for the next generation NOAA weather satellites using industry standard software engineering techniques. Code, test, and document interfaces of moderate to high complexity. Support science algorithm integration and research-to-operation efforts. Must be able to obtain a security clearance. Essential Skills 2+ years of experience in C/C++ 2+ years of knowledge of Unix/Linux Experience with Python, Perl, or Shell Scripting Desired Skills Experience with inter-operability between Fortran 90/95 and C/C++ Skilled at finding, identifying the cause of, and resolving bugs and anomalies Experience with CM tools such as Git and GitLab Experience with container operations (preferably Docker) Experience with real-time and off-line processing of satellite data, science algorithm development. Familiarity with scientific data formats such as HDF and netCDF Experience processing and managing large volumes of data Previous integration experience Teamwork, strong inter-personal skills Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
