Position Summary

The House Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, supportive, and recovery-focused residential environment while ensuring residents follow facility rules, schedules, behavioral expectations, and program requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Residential House Operations

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the assigned residential facility.
• Maintain a structured, safe, clean, and orderly living environment.
• Ensure residents follow established house rules, schedules, curfews, visitation requirements, and facility expectations.
• Conduct routine checks of common areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, entrances, exits, and other areas of the residence.
• Ensure residents maintain appropriate cleanliness and organization of their personal and shared spaces.
• Monitor household supplies and notify leadership when supplies require replenishment.
• Assist with maintaining appropriate inventory of household, cleaning, safety, and program-related supplies.
• Report maintenance concerns, property damage, safety hazards, or facility deficiencies promptly.
• Assist leadership with preparing the residence for inspections, audits, and regulatory visits.

2. Resident Supervision and Support

• Provide appropriate supervision of residents consistent with the facility's policies and level of care.
• Maintain professional boundaries with all residents.
• Promote a respectful, recovery-oriented, and supportive living environment.
• Reinforce house expectations consistently and fairly.
• Observe resident behavior and report significant behavioral, safety, or wellness concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Monitor residents' compliance with established schedules and residential expectations.
• Assist residents with understanding house rules and procedures.
• Encourage residents to participate in approved programming, appointments, meetings, activities, and other recovery-supportive services.
• Support a culture of accountability, respect, personal responsibility, and recovery.
• Avoid providing clinical advice, counseling, diagnosis, or treatment unless specifically licensed and authorized to do so.

3. Safety and Security

• Maintain awareness of residents, visitors, staff, and activities occurring within the residence.
• Follow all facility safety and emergency procedures.
• Immediately report suspected drug or alcohol use, possession of prohibited substances, weapons, threats, violence, unauthorized visitors, or other serious safety concerns according to policy.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and contact emergency services when required.
• Complete required incident reports following accidents, injuries, behavioral incidents, suspected substance use, property damage, elopement/unauthorized departure, or other reportable events.
• Monitor entrances, exits, keys, access codes, and other security procedures as assigned.
• Conduct required safety checks and document them accurately.
• Ensure emergency contact information and required emergency procedures are readily available.
• Participate in emergency drills and preparedness activities as assigned.

4. Medication and Health-Related Responsibilities

• Follow the organization's policies regarding resident medications and medication storage.
• Do not administer, distribute, alter, or otherwise handle resident medications unless specifically authorized, trained, and permitted by organizational policy and applicable law.
• Report medication-related concerns to the appropriate clinical or supervisory personnel.
• Immediately report medical emergencies or significant changes in a resident's condition.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding resident medical and treatment information.

Medication and Health-related Responsibilities

LIVE-IN WORK SCHEDULE & RESIDENTIAL BENEFITS

Live-In Position:

This is a live-in House Manager position. The House Manager is required to reside at the assigned residential facility as a condition of employment.

The House Manager will be provided with designated living accommodations within the residential facility at no rental cost to the employee.

Housing and Household Benefits

As part of the live-in position, the House Manager will receive:

• Housing at no rental cost while actively employed in the House Manager position.
• Food at no cost, subject to the facility's established household food policies and available household provisions.
• Use of designated common areas and household amenities consistent with facility policies.

These benefits are provided in connection with the live-in House Manager position and are not intended to create a separate landlord-tenant relationship.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or GED required.

Additional education or training in behavioral health, addiction studies, human services, social services, psychology, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

• Lived experience
• Previous experience working in a residential, behavioral health, addiction treatment, group home, recovery, social services, or similar environment preferred.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing substance use or behavioral health concerns preferred.
• Previous supervisory or residential management experience preferred.
