The Industrial Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated manufacturing equipment to ensure high levels of reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. This role combines mechanical and electrical work, includes both corrective and preventive maintenance activities, and requires close collaboration with production and departmental leadership to maximize equipment uptime.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on automated manufacturing equipment to reduce unexpected downtime and extend equipment life.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems on production equipment to restore operation quickly and effectively.
Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement robust corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Accurately document all maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities in a PC-based maintenance management system.
Identify and recommend opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Collaborate closely with department supervisors and team members to support production goals and meet operational targets.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company safety standards and procedures.
Follow established maintenance procedures and best practices while contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automation or manufacturing environment.
At least 3 years of hands-on mechanical and electrical experience working with production or automated equipment.
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and related technical documentation.
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing priorities effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with team members.
Proficient computer skills, including experience with maintenance documentation or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Ability to read and write in English to understand work instructions, safety procedures, and technical information.
Core automation knowledge and experience working with automated manufacturing systems.
