Freelance Senior Video Editor

Description The Senior Video Editor is a key creative force within BoldSky Creative Studio's Content Production team. This role is responsible for elevating visual storytelling through expert post-production craft, innovative editing approaches, and emerging AI-driven techniques. The Senior Video Editor works as a strategic and creative collaborator-transforming assets into compelling multi-platform content while upholding brand integrity and high production standards. This role requires mastery of traditional post-production workflows paired with a forward-thinking approach to AI-assisted editing, audio enhancement, and motion design. Partnering closely with producers, and Post Production Lead, the Senior Video Editor ensures that every project delivers exceptional narrative clarity, visual richness, and technical excellence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Editing & Post-Production Excellence Craft high-quality edits across documentary, scripted, commercial, and social-first formats. Deliver polished final assets including color grading, sound mixing, motion graphics, and finishing. Edit content for multi-platform distribution including broadcast, digital, and social ecosystems. Maintain strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder. Execute music selection, sound design, and audio editing with advanced attention to tone, pacing, and emotional resonance. AI-Enhanced Workflow & Innovation AI-assisted rough cuts, smart reframes, and automatic audio cleanup AI-based color workflows, noise reduction, and image/video enhancement Voice isolation, transcription, captioning, dialogue generation, and audio cleanup using AI audio tools Creative Collaboration & Story Development Interpret creative briefs, provide editorial solutions, and offer narrative recommendations. Collaborate closely with creative directors, producers, and clients throughout the editorial process. Provide clear, constructive feedback to cross-functional teams regarding scripts, shot lists, and creative concepts. Demonstrate strong storytelling instincts with meticulous attention to pacing, continuity, emotion, and visual cohesion. Technical Proficiency Skilled in multi-format ingesting, transcoding, and media management. Comfortable with diverse footage sources: RED, ARRI, Mirrorless systems, Action cameras, mobile devices, and more. Knowledge of broadcast prep, digital campaign delivery, closed-captioning workflows, and social/export optimization. Working knowledge of web platforms, streaming media encoding, and evolving digital campaign standards. Maintain organized project files and adhere to established studio workflows, storage systems, and archiving practices. Strong proficiency in DaVinci Resolve (color grading, audio tools, AI features) is preferred. Operational Excellence Manage multiple active projects at various stages, shifting seamlessly between tasks. Execute projects efficiently, meeting tight timelines and adjusting to shifting priorities. Demonstrate excellent client service, patience, and team collaboration. Analyze and improve workflows, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, automation, and creative quality. TECHNICAL EXPERTISE Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder. Strong working proficiency in DaVinci Resolve for color grading and post-finishing. Understanding of camera workflow pipelines, industry-standard codecs, and multi-format editing. Experience with: Color grading (Lumetri, Resolve) Audio mixing (dialogue editing, noise reduction, EQ, compression) Motion graphics and VFX fundamentals Broadcast and digital delivery/quality control Closed-caption editing and file delivery On-set or on-location production experience is a plus. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Visual Communications, Film/Media Production, or related field (required). 5-7 years of professional editing experience in an agency, post-production studio, or equivalent environment (required). Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and transition quickly between tasks (required). Strong communication skills, a solutions-oriented mindset, and openness to feedback (required). Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment (required). The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $70.00- $80.00 but may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role.
