We are on a mission to provide marginalized individuals and families with excellent clinical care and close the gap within marginalized communities.SummaryThe Certified Peer Recovery Specialist is a fully integrated member of the 245G clinical team who provides individualized and group services in the community and promotes client self-determination and decision making. Peer Recovery Specialists also provide essential expertise and consultation to the entire team to promote a culture in which each person's point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. The Peer Specialist will support anti-oppressive/anti-racist practice, and trauma-responsive practice, through their administrative and operations support of program staff working on site and in community to address socioeconomic and health disparity. Experience and interest in working with clients with a range of identities including age, developmental and acquired disabilities, religion, spirituality, ethnicity, race, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, relationship structure, indigenous heritage, national origin, immigration status, and gender is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 10-11 hour per week CPRS5 hours per week Treatment Coordination4-5 hours week admin/outreachTotal billables = 15 hours per weekProvide peer-recovery education and assists peers with assessing their unique strengths and abilitiesHelps peers with identifying, developing, and working towards recovery goals and self-advocacyHelps peers identify and access appropriate professional resourcesActs as a community liaisonProvides education for team members regarding the recovery processAssists in implementing and developing treatment goal plansProvides care and resources for clients and staff on cultureReports significant/major incidents or accidentsAdheres to data privacy practices/HIPAAWrites progress notes, and assists in summaries and dischargesProvides objective verbal and written critical incident analysisReceives one hour of monthly supervision by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug CounselorOutreach to sober housesOutreach to detox centers, hospitals etc. to inform them of our programOther related duties as assigned  Qualifications/ExperienceHave a high school diploma or its equivalentHave a minimum of one year in recovery from substance use disorderHold a current credential from the Minnesota Certification Board, the Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders, or the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse CounselorsAn individual may also receive a credential from a tribal nation when providing peer recovery support services in a tribally licensed program.Credential must demonstrate skills and training in the domains of ethics and boundaries, advocacy, mentoring and education, and recovery and wellness support; and receive ongoing supervision in areas specific to the domains of the recovery peer's role by an alcohol and drug counselor.Work Environment:Roots Wellness Center offers a collaborative, mission-driven work environment grounded in social justice, equity, and trauma-responsive care. This role combines meaningful client engagement with community outreach and teamwork in a supportive clinical setting.Physical Demands:This role requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as travel within the community for outreach and client support. Duties may involve occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs), frequent use of a computer, and the ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
