About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience BLS certification ACLS certification NIHSS certification Description: This position requires a strong background in MedSurg/Tele nursing. The department has 10 beds with an average daily census of 8 patients. Patient types include chest pain, syncope, and angina. The RN to patient ratio is 1:5, with CNAs providing support at a ratio of 1:10. General Med/Tele skills are essential, including: Stroke experience Cardiac rhythm interpretation Trach care PIV starts Chest tube management NGT placement Drain and tube management (including Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, and foley insertion/management) Management of PCA pumps Medication administration including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids Support within the department includes: Supervisors and Charge RNs who may or may not have patients Resource RNs who assist with admissions and discharges Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 Clientists are available 24/7 Phlebotomy support from RNs and an IV team Floating may be required based on patient care needs. Travel nurses will be the first to float to other nursing units. Flexibility is necessary when adapting to different units and patient care settings. Scrub color is navy.
