Role Description The Maintenance Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX, responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day maintenance operations of a multifamily residential community. This role coordinates, assigns, and performs routine and emergency maintenance tasks, including inspection, repair, and upkeep of building systems, apartment units, grounds, and common areas. The Maintenance Lead troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, manages work orders, and ensures that preventive maintenance schedules are followed to maintain safety, comfort, and appearance standards. This position also supports vendor coordination, inventory management for supplies and equipment, and compliance with property, safety, and regulatory requirements. The Maintenance Lead provides guidance to maintenance team members, supports onboarding and training, and collaborates closely with the property management team to deliver a high‑quality resident experience. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in Maintenance & Repair and general Maintenance for multifamily or similar residential properties. Candidates should possess skills in Equipment Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance to ensure reliable operation of building systems and amenities. Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting abilities for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and appliance issues. Experience leading or mentoring maintenance teams, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage work orders efficiently. Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and best practices for a safe working and living environment. Ability to use maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and property management software or work order systems. Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset when interacting with residents, team members, and vendors. High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related) are highly beneficial.
