REPORTS TO: Purchasing Manager SCOPE OF POSITION: Responsible for the timely and cost-efficient purchase and delivery of all vendor goods and services using available software, technology, and hardware. Use Gaming approved vendors and document sourcing methods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following is a list of the main duties and responsibilities. However, other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by management. All duties must be performed in accordance with Tribal, Federal, and other applicable requirements, organizational specific policies, procedures and practices. Meet with Vice Presidents or their designee of assigned departments to review upcoming Capital Purchases or expiring service contracts or maintenance contracts. Assists the Manager of Purchasing Manager with ensuring all company policies and procedures are adhered to by all applicable individuals with regard to the procurement of products and services. Review purchase requisitions for proper specifications and back-up documentation to purchase the desired goods and/or services. Initiate a purchase order for goods or services when the purchasing department has received a properly completed and approved purchase requisition. Maintain organization of files and correspondence/follow up with vendors. Be able to identify and recommend alternative products or services that better serve the internal department and keep costs down. Keep track of contracts and their status for assigned departments. Verify information for Capital Projects, ensuring that all bids and vendor information is correct. Facilitate the flow of information, by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with all departments involved in a project until project is completed. Negotiate best price with winning vendor, set terms and payment schedule. Work with the tribal attorney to negotiate contracts to final terms. Ensure that the competitive bid process is followed. Responsible for the timeliest and cost-effective purchase and delivery of all products requested by departments Keep track of and maintain pricing for routinely purchased items. Maintain vendor compliance with the company’s product specifications and work with Vendor Coordinator to ensure vendor is licensed/certified/exempt with the NHBPGC. Maintains the highest level of confidentiality. Coordinates delivery of products, especially Large Ticket Items (LTI), with the Warehouse and Receiving Teams. Occasional travel may be necessary Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record as outlined in the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Attendance Policy. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: An applicant’s education, training and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the ability to successfully perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Three years in Purchasing as a Buyer or Senior Buyer at a comparable corporate buying level equal to our current operation. Must have experience with a computer-based system for generating purchase requisitions and orders. High School diploma or GED. Must be proficient in Excel and Word. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be proficient with Windows and internet research. GENERAL OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or minimum of three years’ contract purchasing negotiation in a corporate setting. Experience with RedRock or similar procurement software. Successful completion of any of the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Training programs. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal, and work with mathematical expressions such as probability and statistical inference. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
