Position Overview:

The Pediatric Nurse is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering treatments and medications, and collaborating with providers and healthcare staff to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

As in any medical practice, scheduled hours may include days, evenings, and weekends.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**) :

• Providing telephone triage to patients and their families
• Reviewing and reconciling list of medications with patients
• Initiating prescription refill requests for provider review and processing
• Prescription management tasks including processing prior authorizations
• Documenting patient requests for referrals and notifying provider through the referral workflow process
• Communication with patients and families regarding lab results, medication administration, and home care advice
• Providing patient education regarding common childhood illnesses, medications, expected courses of treatment and general medical advice
• Patient care follow-up for ER or Specialist visits
• Documenting in medical record efficiently and accurately
• Direct patient care including but are not limited to stocking, preparing, and cleaning exam rooms, rooming patients, taking appropriate vital signs (including rectal/temporal temperature, height, weight, blood pressure) and performing vision and hearing screenings
• Draws and collects blood samples from patients through venous draws, finger sticks or heel sticks as back up to phlebotomists
• Performing in-house CLIA-waived testing procedures for strep throat, COVID, flu and processing urine samples
• Using proper techniques and procedures for hazardous waste disposal, universal precautions and body mechanics
• Monitoring and stocking supplies under the direction of the Nurse Manager
• Maintaining medical equipment and office equipment
• Other duties as assigned by need.
