Job Details Job ID: 5710296 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 13, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Primary Purpose Supervise and lead the Electrical team and all power distribution and lighting operations for the District Maintenance Department. Responsibilities include scheduling, assessment, repair, replacement, and optimization of electrical systems and infrastructure districtwide. Oversee and manage the Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Lighting Control Systems to ensure energy efficiency and operational safety. Maintain facilities in excellent operating condition to support uninterrupted educational use and provide a safe, code-compliant, functional, and attractive environment. Provide leadership, technical training, and support to Electrical staff while coordinating power requirements and lighting schedules for campus and district-level events in alignment with district goals. Minimum Qualifications Education/Certification High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency). Valid Master Electrician license. Clear and valid Texas driver’s license. Satisfactory outcome of a fingerprinting background check (non-refundable fee of approximately $50.00 to be paid by the employee). Experience/Knowledge/Skills Experience working in a public school environment or a large-scale institutional setting. Expert knowledge of electrical circuits, power distribution, wiring, and the operating principles of motors and controllers. Comprehensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local ordinances, and NFPA 70E safety standards. Advanced ability to interpret and analyze blueprints, complex electrical schematics, and technical reference materials. Ability to communicate, follow, and issue complex written and verbal instructions. Ability to perform precise mathematical calculations related to electrical load, circuitry, and demand. Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electrical system failures and infrastructure issues. Mastery in the safe operation and maintenance of specialized electrical hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic testing equipment. Experience Minimum four years of experience in the electrical field preferred. Utilize effective communication skills to provide clear direction to the electrical team and coordinate with campus leadership. Serve as a positive role model who actively supports and represents the mission of the school district. Participate in school-based educational events, career days, and student engagement opportunities to promote the trades. Design and provide technical training for departmental staff to enhance district-wide knowledge of electrical service and safety. Establish a standard of accountability and craftsmanship that ensures team pride and high-quality service. Organization Improvement Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities. Inspect building exterior and interior, doors, locks and hardware. Detect and report needed major repairs on building locks and hardware, including lockers, furniture, and equipment. Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, control and distribution apparatus, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints. Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment and test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components. Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints. Measure, assemble, and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader, and conduit bender. Detected needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures. Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances, including commercial ovens, ranges, steam tables, washers, and dryers. Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner. Select material and hardware and calculate time and materials estimates. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. Work with building principals and supervisors to schedule and complete projects. Respond to emergency calls as needed. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure that equipment is in safe operating condition. Organization Management Complete repairs as requested on work orders. Project management for electrical services. Develop RFPs related to electrical services. Qualities of Effective Maintenance Workers Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Operate light truck and equipment; uses tools following established safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required. Respond to emergency calls when requested. Shall comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. Shall comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards. Supervisory Responsibilities Serves as the team lead for assigned staff. Provides guidance and support to assigned trainees. Equipment Electrical measuring and testing equipment, power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, welder (gas and electric air), and light truck or van and other equipment applicable to position. Working Conditions: Work irregular and extended work hours. Continual walking, standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards; Work around moving objects or vehicles. Occasional district wide and statewide travel.
