Peer Recovery Support Specialist

Job Purpose:- The Peer Recovery Support Specialist at Recovery Point West Virginia is responsible for providing non-clinical support and guidance to individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders. The role involves utilizing personal experience in recovery to inspire hope and motivation, fostering a supportive community environment, and assisting clients in navigating recovery resources and services.Key Responsibilities:- Offer peer support and mentorship to individuals in recovery, sharing personal recovery experiences to motivate and encourage.- Facilitate group meetings and workshops aimed at promoting recovery skills and resilience.- Assist clients in developing and implementing individualized recovery plans.- Connect clients with community resources, services, and support networks to aid in their recovery journey.- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and recovery teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to client care.- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies.- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in peer recovery support.- Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the recovery community and broader healthcare systems.Required Education:- High school diploma or equivalent required.- Certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist preferred.Required Experience:- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a recovery-oriented environment.- Personal experience in recovery from substance use disorder, with a strong understanding of the recovery process.- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural competency in recovery support.Required Skills and Abilities:- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support individuals in recovery.- Strong ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with clients.- Knowledge of local community resources and services related to recovery and mental health.- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions.- Proficiency in using technology, including basic computer applications and data entry systems.- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals facing substance use challenges. #J-18808-Ljbffr Recovery Point of West Virginia
