CNC Set-Up/Operator - Lathes (2nd shift)

Job Details CNC Set‑Up/Operator (2nd shift) Responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and loading multi‑axis CNC horizontal/vertical machining centers, turning centers, multi‑station load stations, or other CNC equipment as assigned. Report to the 2nd shift Production Supervisor. Shift hours: Monday–Thursday 3:30 pm–1 am, Friday 3:30 pm–7:30 pm. Training occurs on 1st shift or mid shift. Duties and Responsibilities Effectively set‑up and operate equipment under the direction of a lead or supervisor in the CNC machining area. Select required cutting tools, tool grades, and proper speeds and feeds from the programming document. Fill in details of blueprints and schematics from provided information. Inspect all parts manufactured in the designated machining area and perform quality‑related statistical analysis (e.g., SPC). Perform routine preventative maintenance such as daily or weekly oiling, greasing, checking coolant levels and concentrations. Comply with all safety procedures, wearing protective clothing, handling chemicals and products safely, and using safety/rescue equipment as required. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees, suppliers, customers, and peers effectively. Maintain policies, procedures, standards, and company rules. Maintain quality assurance in line with ISO standards. Keep the work area clean, orderly, and safe. Ensure punctual, regular, and consistent attendance. Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned. Required Experience and Education High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in standard English. One to three years of related machining experience. CNC certificate preferred. Ability to read simple blueprints and technical specifications. Ability to handle routine projects and tasks under close supervision. Basic understanding of mathematics including geometry and trigonometry. Ability to handle non‑routine, standard projects and tasks. Physical and Technical Environment Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds; use proper lifting techniques or available equipment. Use manual wrenches and tools to clamp and unclamp parts in fixturing. Must be on feet all day. Require close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Regularly walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms. Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold on a regular basis. Must supply hand tools and toolboxes.
