OPS FOOD SERVICE ADMINISTRATOR

Position Title OPS Food Service Administrator - 50601359 Agency & Location Veterans Affairs, Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs – Alexander "Sandy" Nininger State Veterans’ Nursing Home, Pembroke Pines, Broward County, FL Pay Hourly Rate: $16.57 (paid bi‑weekly). Eligible for benefits if worked an average of 30+ hours per week. Responsibilities Ensure clean and sanitary conditions in food preparation, serving, and storage areas. Assist the Food Service Director with purchase requests and procurement of food, cleaning supplies, utensils, dishes, and paper products. Maintain and control kitchen inventory, verify incoming shipments and receipts. Assist in oversight of kitchen equipment maintenance. Prepare, pre‑prepare, and produce meals, assign staff duties, and ensure completion of responsibilities during shifts. Train staff on proper food preparation, storage, disposal, and personal hygiene. Ensure compliance with state and facility safety procedures in food production, cleaning, and equipment maintenance. Collaborate with the Consulting Dietitian and Food Service Director to determine nutritional needs of residents. Direct food support staff in absence of the Food Service Director, including training needs. Attend in‑service training and perform other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and 10‑hour shifts. At least one year of verifiable cooking experience in a commercial or cafeteria‑style setting. Basic computer skills. Successful completion of the employment screening process, including a national background investigation and drug test. Preferred Qualifications Experience preparing food in a skilled care facility or long‑term care setting. Experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
