Animal Clinic International is seeking an experienced veterinarian to join our Sherman Oaks practice as Veterinary Medical Director and Managing Veterinarian. This position combines hands-on patient care with medical leadership and responsibility for serving as the clinic’s designated Managing Licensee with the California Veterinary Medical Board.

We are looking for a doctor who enjoys practicing medicine, supporting a clinical team, and establishing high standards of patient care.

YOUR ROLE

• Provide comprehensive veterinary care for companion animals, including examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, preventive care, and surgical and dental procedures within your expertise.

• Serve as the clinic’s designated Managing Licensee and complete the required association documentation with the California Veterinary Medical Board.

• Lead clinical operations and establish medical protocols that prioritize patient safety, quality of care, and clear communication.

• Oversee compliance with applicable veterinary premises requirements and professional standards.

• Ensure team members perform duties within their authorized scope of practice and receive appropriate supervision.

• Maintain high standards for medical records, informed consent, medication handling, anesthesia monitoring, and infection control.

• Mentor veterinary staff and help develop a skilled, accountable, and compassionate clinical team.

• Collaborate with ownership on staffing, equipment needs, and practice development while exercising independent professional medical judgment.

• Build lasting relationships with clients through thoughtful guidance and compassionate care.

QUALIFICATIONS

• DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree.

• Active California veterinary license in good standing.

• Willingness and ability to serve as the clinic’s designated Managing Licensee.

• Strong clinical experience in companion-animal medicine.

• Confidence in clinical decision-making, team leadership, and client communication.

• Familiarity with California veterinary practice requirements.

• Previous medical director or lead veterinarian experience preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Annual base salary of $300,000.
