Job Summary
Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a healthcare setting. This position involves performing all Nuclear Medicine procedures on patients of all ages utilizing various types of imaging equipment. The role includes preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with current radiation safety guidelines, assisting in the administration of therapeutic doses, and collaborating with physicians to provide safe and effective imaging procedures. The technologist will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, ensuring image quality standards, and supporting training activities within the department.

Job Details

• Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Associate Degree in diagnostic imaging or nuclear medicine; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); California Nuclear Medicine Technology certification (RHN) from the California Department of Public Health-Radiologic Health Branch (CDPH-RHB); One of the following: Registered Technologist - Nuclear Medicine (ARRT) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
• Experience: 0+ years of progressive responsibility and related work experience
• Additional Information:
  • Performs a full range of nuclear medicine imaging techniques used in medical diagnosis and evaluation
  • Prepares radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits and calibrates instruments
  • Monitors supplies and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations and develops new protocols as needed
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging techniques and equipment for accurate diagnosis
  • Ensures consistent, reliable imaging results and verifies images meet diagnostic standards
  • Prepares and maintains detailed records of radiopharmaceutical activities, including receipt, dispensing, and disposal
  • Works with department management to meet safety goals and respond to radiation accidents
  • Explains procedures to patients, ensures safe patient handling, and provides post-exam instructions
  • Assists in training radiology students, house staff, and ancillary personnel in procedures, safety, and equipment operation
  • Maintains department in a clean, safe, and operational manner, including proper documentation of all activities
  • Responds promptly to equipment malfunctions and abnormal findings, escalating issues as necessary
  • Follows department standard operating procedures for protocoling and preparing imaging cases
  • Supports a collaborative team environment to promote patient safety and quality care
