Attorney

Contract through 11/30/2027 with potential extension Shift Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Monday – Friday) Pay Rate: $53.04 – $56.97/hour on W2 Job Overview Key Responsibilities Review and certify contracts, grants, amendments, and procurement documents for legal sufficiency. Handle a large volume of legal reviews annually, including 800+ contracts and 200+ amendments. Provide legal guidance related to procurement, vendor transitions, regulatory compliance, and department operations. Advise on contract drafting, interpretation, negotiations, and purchasing-related legal matters. Participate in vendor bid protest matters and assist with legal risk assessments. Collaborate with department programs, the Division of Administrative Services, and other state agencies including the Department of General Services. Assist with rulemaking and administrative law projects within the department. Support legislative initiatives, including bill analysis and policy review. Respond to public records requests and complete special legal projects as assigned by the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable state and federal regulations. Required Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active Tennessee Bar license in good standing. Minimum of 1 year of relevant legal experience preferred. Familiarity with Tennessee State procurement processes and rulemaking procedures. Strong understanding of contracts, grants, compliance, and administrative law. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume workload effectively. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
