Job Details Unit Type: Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Shift Length: 12 hours Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year with at least 1 travel assignment Shift Times: 7 AM to 7 PM Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients within the medical-surgical unit. Monitor patient health and administer medications as prescribed. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and implement patient care strategies. Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to established protocols and standards. Participate in patient education and support initiatives. Occasionally float to other acute care areas and cardiovascular units as needed. Qualifications Certifications: Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications are required. Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5, possibly 1:6 for both days and nights. Experience with EMR systems, specifically Meditech, is preferred but not mandatory. Weekend and Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and holidays as needed. Staffing Ratio: Nurse Aides present with a typical ratio of 1:8, occasionally 1:10. Orientation and Training General Orientation: 1 week, which includes EMR training. Floor-Specific Orientation: 2 days of tailored training to familiarize with unit protocols and procedures.
