Chief Lending Officer

This is a Banking position - Banking experience required

A growing financial institution is seeking a strategic and highly connected Chief Lending Officer to lead its lending division and drive overall portfolio growth. This executive will be responsible for overseeing all lending functions, shaping credit strategy, and expanding the bank’s presence within the local business community. The ideal candidate is both a strong credit leader and an active business developer, bringing established relationships, strong market visibility, and a proven ability to lead high-performing teams. This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with executive leadership while maintaining a hands-on approach to lending and community engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all lending functions, including commercial, consumer, and real estate lending
• Manage and develop a team of lenders, driving production, accountability, and portfolio growth
• Establish and execute short- and long-term lending strategies aligned with business objectives
• Oversee loan portfolio performance, ensuring profitability, asset quality, and risk management
• Maintain individual lending authority and approve loans within assigned limits
• Develop and enforce lending policies, procedures, and credit standards
• Drive business development through active community involvement and relationship building
• Build and maintain relationships with business leaders, chambers, and referral sources
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including consumer compliance and CRA
• Monitor market trends to identify growth opportunities and adjust lending strategies accordingly
• Collaborate with executive leadership on financial performance, planning, and strategic initiatives
• Represent the institution in the community through networking and industry involvement

Qualifications & Requirements

• Extensive banking experience with a strong background in commercial lending leadership
• Proven track record of managing and growing a loan portfolio and leading a team of lenders (5+ direct reports preferred)
• Strong credit acumen with experience in underwriting, structuring, and approving loans
• Established relationships within the local business community and active involvement in networking organizations
• Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required; Portuguese is a strong plus
• Solid understanding of banking regulations, including CRA and consumer compliance
• Experience working with regulators and bank examiners
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution in a growth-oriented environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field preferred
