Full-Time Annual Salary: $36,092.42 Overtime and on call pay eligible Paid Bi-weekly Excellent retirement package and optional deferred compensation plan. Health, vision, dental, ‎disability, and other supplemental insurance available at reasonable premium rates. Paid vacation and ‎sick leave. Nine (9) paid holidays and personal day. Tuition waivers are available for State Universities and ‎Community Colleges (up to 6 credits per semester).‎

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and speaking) Experience working with plumbing, electrical equipment, drywall repair, and painting Valid driver's license and good driving record Willing to be on call rotating bi-weekly Successful completion of the employment screening process to include, but not limited to, a national background investigation and drug test.‎

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants with the following experience will be given preference in hiring: Experience with long-term care or hospital environment Experience with HVAC and HVAC Automation Experience with preventative maintenance

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent will work under the direction of the Utilities and Maintenance Superintendent. The duties and responsibilities include: Repair and maintenance of the physical plant, property, equipment and mechanical systems of the State Veterans’ Nursing Home. Assisting to ensure a safe environment exists in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local requirements. Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of the buildings do not deteriorate. Provide routine repair services to defective equipment, repairs physical plant deficiencies, resolves routine work orders, assists with the assembly, delivery and installation of facility equipment. Document actions and outcomes of preventative maintenance efforts, repair services and other routine actions. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, assists the Maintenance Superintendent with maintaining a focus on safety and accident prevention throughout the facility. Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position. Knowledge of and ability to perform routine maintenance or repairs on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed and which tools to use. Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings. Ability to speak, read, write, follow instructions and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to perform simple tasks related to computer usage. Must maintain a current valid driver’s license and good driving record. Must have the ability to perform the following physical tasks continually or frequently throughout the workday - regular movement, balancing, bending at the knees, grasping, kneeling or crawling, pinching, pushing, pulling and lifting at least 75-100 pounds, reaching above head, reaching with arms extended, repetitive finger movements, standing, stooping or bending at the waist, turning or pivoting, twisting at the neck, waist or knees. Follow FDVA; Homes Program; and facility policies, procedures, and standards. Communicate effectively with staff, residents and vendors. Follow the preventative maintenance plan. Complete tasks in a timely manner and documents outcomes. Maintain tools, work equipment and work area in a clean, organized manner. Willing to learn new procedures and techniques. Accept assignments and instruction in an agreeable manner. Attend and complete in-service training by posted training schedule. May be required to be on “emergency call status” as designated by the supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. This position is in the Career Service System.
