Responsibilities

• Preparation - Assist in preparing raw materials and food items according to recipes or supervisor instructions, including washing, cutting, weighing, and measuring ingredients.
• Processing - Assist with baking and food production processes, including forming, cutting, shaping, mixing, blending, cooking, and preparing drinks by following recipes.
• Display - Ensure products are properly labeled with signage and merchandised according to company standards; set up and maintain promotional displays; keep shelves and refrigerators neat, fully stocked, and visually appealing to showcase quality and freshness.
• Stock - Unload and break down deliveries; organize stockroom, cold storage, and dry storage areas; stock shelves and refill products to meet customer demand; assist in transferring supplies, packaging materials, and ingredients.
• Replenish - Monitor product expiration dates; remove outdated products and ensure timely restocking using First-In First-Out (FIFO) methods.
• Bakery/Hot Deli Sales - Wrap and pack items accurately and efficiently according to customer requests.
• Workplace Maintenance - Maintain a safe working environment and comply with company procedures and government safety regulations.
• Cleaning - Maintain cleanliness of production and sales areas, including floors, walls, counters, tables, and equipment; wash and sanitize utensils, pans, trays, and tools; coordinate maintenance needs when necessary.
• Regulation - Follow food safety and sanitation practices; comply with OSHA/CAL-OSHA safety standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Loss Prevention - Safeguard and monitor department assets; follow company policies and procedures for asset control.
• Dumping - Handle expired and recalled products according to company procedures; maintain accurate logs and minimize waste through efficient use of materials.
• Demo - Perform product demonstrations and sampling as directed by supervisors to promote department sales.
• Sales Floor Maintenance - Keep aisles and common areas clean and free of debris to ensure a safe shopping environment.
• Customer Service - Greet customers, assist with orders, answer questions, and provide product samples to enhance the customer experience.
• Cashier - Follow all cash handling procedures and complete transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Perform other duties as for business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Previous experience in bakery, kitchen, food production, restaurant, or customer service is preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
• Working knowledge of baking processes, food preparation, or ingredients is preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and CAL-OSHA regulations is a plus.
• Willing to obtain or currently possess a Food Handler Card.
• Available for flexible scheduling, including weekends as needed.

Skills Required

• Good customer service skills.

• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to visually identify product quality and freshness.

Physical Demands

• Standing for extended periods is commonly required.
• Good manual dexterity for the use of processing equipment such as cutters or labeling machines.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs or more with appropriate equipment.

Requirements

• Prefer Bilingual: English and Chinese or English and Spanish.
• Able to periodically stand for long periods.
• Able to carry objects over 25 lbs.
• Available to work flexible schedules (afternoon shifts, weekends & holidays).
• Non-US Citizen applicants must have a legal work permit.

Salary:

The pay range for this job is $18.75 to $24.00 per hour. This is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
