Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Metal Machine Operator to operate our CNC Robotic Plasma Cutting Machine. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a structural steel or metal fabrication environment and be comfortable operating automated machinery, reading shop drawings, and maintaining production efficiency while ensuring quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the robotic plasma cutting machine to accurately process structural steel components.
• Load, unload, and position steel materials safely using overhead cranes or forklifts (training/certification preferred).
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, cut lists, and production schedules.
• Verify material dimensions and inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Perform routine machine setup, adjustments, and basic preventative maintenance.
• Identify and report equipment issues or material discrepancies.
• Maintain productivity while minimizing waste and rework.
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals.

Qualifications

Required

• Experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment or similar metal fabrication machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and production documents.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Commitment to producing high-quality work with minimal errors.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred

• Previous experience operating robotic plasma cutting machines.
• Experience in a structural steel fabrication shop.
• Overhead crane and forklift experience.
• Basic computer skills for machine operation and production tracking.

Evaluation & Advancement

New hires will complete a 90-day evaluation period. Employees demonstrating strong machine operation skills, excellent attendance, productivity, quality workmanship, and a positive attitude may be eligible for a pay increase following the evaluation period.
