The successful candidate will be responsible for performing research and teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in Sociology, and teaching in the undergraduate Program in Criminal Justice housed within the Rutgers-New Brunswick Sociology department. Specific areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to: the sociology of punishment, policing studies, socio-legal studies, new technologies of surveillance, white collar crime, cybercrime, and international dimensions of crime. Candidates using a variety of methods are encouraged to apply, as are those who engage with crime- and justice-related policy-making. Synergy with existing department strengths such as health, immigration, or organizations is a plus. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field by start of appointment, which will be September 1, 2027, subject to availability of funding.
