Unit specifics: Number of beds: 8 Patient ratios: 2:1 Unit staffing description: Mixed patient population, open ICU, goal staffing 4 RNs 24/7 Type of equipment: GE B650 cardiac monitors, vents, Gaymar cooling Documentation system: Meditech Scheduling requirements: Self-scheduling encouraged, EOW, OT ok if available, flexible scheduling Floating policy: ICU may float to critical care or intermediate care areas when needed Patient experience requirements: AIDET validation during orientation, unit is focused on nurse communication (nurses listen carefully and nurse explain things in a way patients can understand), whiteboard use, hourly rounding, bedside care conference/hand off

Hiring profile

Requested skill set: Medical and surgical ICU experience. ACLS/BLS required. AIBP experience & CCRN preferred. Procedures performed on unit: Ventilator care, therapeutic hypothermia, PCI/STEMI, IABP, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, TEE/cardioversion, temp pacer, sepsis, stroke/TPA, DKA. ICU RNs are responders for Code Blue and Rapid Response Team
