Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations, including proper handling, cooking, and storage. Calculate food requirements and assist with ordering, production scheduling, and reporting. Supervise preparation and serving of meals, consulting with cooks on recipes and quantity control. Maintain cleanliness of service and preparation areas, and ensure equipment is sanitized. Conduct safety and environmental surveys, meal service observations, and verify portion sizes. Inspect food arrival for quality, temperature, and quantity, and instruct staff on best practices. Participate in quality and performance improvement activities, including audits and HACCP implementation. Coordinate internal communication during inclement weather, utility shutdowns, and other events to maintain safety. Facilitate mandatory training, assess workflow, and coach staff on management strategies. Perform other duties as assigned, including disaster response, COOP activation, and alternate shift assignments. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of food preparation methods, equipment, and appliances. Knowledge of food procurement, storage, and preservation. Knowledge of sanitation regulations and procedures. Skills in operating, cleaning, and sanitizing food‑service appliances. Ability to calculate food requirements accurately. Ability to supervise and lead a team effectively. Computer proficiency. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Certifications Certified Food Service Manager certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Initial Screening Criteria Minimum 24 months of experience leading food service workers or meal prep teams. At least one year of experience in food service oversight. Additional Requirements Background check: fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, registry checks (CANRS, Nurse Aid, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, LEIE). Age: applicants must be at least 18 years old; specific centers require 21 years. Immunization: must comply with the agency immunization policy for hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, and influenza; influenza vaccine optional with mask requirement.
