Product Development Associate

You’ll work closely with our founder and team to help shape the future of the Thirty Years product line by looking at what’s working, what’s missing, what our customer wants, and where there’s room to build something new. A big part of the role is reviewing our current assortment, best sellers, customer behavior, retailer feedback, and upcoming launches to identify white space and new product opportunities.

We’re looking for someone with strong product instincts, a creative eye, and a natural curiosity about what’s happening across fashion, accessories, retail, travel, sport, lifestyle, and culture. Someone who is observant, plugged in, and constantly noticing what people are wearing, what stores are doing, what feels fresh, and where there may be room for something new.

You should be the kind of person who naturally notices gaps in an assortment, has opinions about what’s working and what could be better, and genuinely enjoys talking through ideas, categories, features, colors, materials, and use cases. You should be comfortable bringing ideas to the table, not just waiting for a brief, and excited to help turn those ideas into products that feel relevant to our customer and distinctly Thirty Years.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Partner closely with the founder on new product ideas, assortment planning, and future product opportunities.
• Constantly source and organize product inspiration across fashion, accessories, vintage, retail, travel, sport, lifestyle and adjacent categories.
• Bring proactive product ideas and creative territories to the founder rather than waiting for a defined brief.
• Develop visual research, reference decks, competitive studies and loose concept directions that can spark new product exploration.
• Explore new use cases, categories, materials, constructions, patterns and product behaviors that could make sense for Thirty Years.
• Maintain an ongoing pipeline of early-stage ideas and opportunities for future seasons.
• Participate in regular open-ended product ideation sessions with the founder and design team.
• Help shape product briefs including function, size, features, use case, price point, materials, color, and overall product positioning.
• Work with design and development partners to move ideas from early concept into sampling and development.
• Review samples and prototypes with the team and help organize feedback, revisions, and next steps.
• Help evaluate color, material, hardware, trim, sizing, and feature decisions throughout development.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Design, Production, Operations, Creative and Marketing as products move toward launch.
• Help prepare materials for product reviews, line reviews, retailer conversations, and development meetings.
• Proactively flag opportunities, assortment gaps, development issues, or timeline risks.
• Support collaborations, special projects, and new category exploration as needed.

What You Bring

• 2+ years of professional experience in product development, merchandising, buying, brand management, or a related role within fashion, accessories or lifestyle.
• Strong product instinct and an understanding of how to build a thoughtful, cohesive assortment.
• A genuine interest in products, materials, functionality, and how people use things in everyday life.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and collaborate closely with creative and operational teams.
• Proactive, curious, and comfortable bringing new ideas and points of view to the table.
• Experience with handbags, accessories, apparel, or lifestyle products is a plus.
• Experience at a growing or founder-led brand is a plus.

Engagement

We're looking for someone to join the Thirty Years team in a full-time capacity, based out of our Canoga Park headquarters in Los Angeles.

This role will work closely with our Founder and the broader product team. We're building a highly collaborative, idea-rich product development environment, so being present and engaged with the team is an important part of the role.
