Direct Support Professional

Helping Hands Day Program is an Individualized Skills and Socialization (ISS) program that serves adults that have intellectual and developmental disabilities with low-support needs.

As Direct Support Professional you will provide immediate hands-on care and support to individuals participating in the program which includes assisting/engaging in planned activities on and off campus, teaching skill development, sharing daily devotion, etc. This is all while ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the day.

* Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent
* Must pass pre-employment criminal background screening
* Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License
* Must be willing to obtain all necessary training required for all Direct Support Professional (including CPR/First Aid certification, seizure training, etc.)
* Must have some experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
* Must have good verbal and written communication skills (for daily documentation on clients)
* Must be able to lift up to 100 (in the event staff had to assist in lift/support client) and must be able to walk a great deal during the day
* Must be able to lead and take directions
* Must be able to drive a small van or shuttle bus (CDL license not required)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 25.0 per week
