Control Wireman

Position: Control Wireman Location: Virginia Job Id: 1018 # of Openings: 2 We’re looking for a Control Wireman who’s ready to support the functionality and safety of high‑voltage substations. You’ll perform hands‑on wiring and testing, read electrical schematics, and install and maintain control systems with precision and accuracy. What You’ll Do: Install, maintain, and repair control wiring and high‑voltage substation equipment Interpret complex blueprints and schematics to complete control layouts and terminations Cut, route, and terminate wiring using precision tools to ensure safe and functional installations Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, relays, and associated control panels Use test equipment (e.g., multimeters, meggers) to verify continuity, proper connections, and performance Inspect installed systems to identify defects, hazards, or operational issues Train and guide less experienced technicians on safety protocols and wiring best practices Respond to emergency repair needs to restore power or correct hazardous conditions Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas The Experience We’re Looking For: 2+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical wiring or related substation work Working knowledge of control systems, circuitry, and wiring practices Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics Additional Requirements: Travel frequently (minimum 75%) with overnight stays Successfully complete a background check and pre‑employment/random drug tests Valid driver’s license Legally authorized to work in the United States Bonus Points for: Completion of a trade school program, technical college, associate degree, or skilled trade certification Prior experience working in substations or transmission projects Intermediate or advanced troubleshooting skills using electrical testing equipment Why Join RMS Energy: We’re not just another power services company.
